Bridging the Gap
to Real Connection
HowtoMalay was founded to solve a simple problem: Most language courses teach you how to pass an exam, not how to make a friend.
Why We Started
Learning Malay can be confusing. You open a textbook and learn “Apakah nama kamu?” (What is your name?), but when you arrive in Kuala Lumpur, everyone says “Nama awak siapa?”.
We realized that there was a massive disconnect between Formal Malay (Bahasa Baku) taught in schools and Spoken Malay (Bahasa Pasar) used in coffee shops, offices, and homes.
HowtoMalay was created to bridge that gap. We don’t just teach you the language; we teach you the culture, the slang, and the confidence to speak like a local.
The HowtoMalay Method
We focus on communication over rigid perfection.
